QA Award Winners 2012

Sika Liquid Plastics, pioneer of liquid roofing technology, is proud to announce the winners of its Contractor of the Year Awards 2012 as voted for by members of the Quality Assured Contractor Programme. Clarke Roofing (Southern) won the Overcoating Project of the Year, BriggsAmasco won the Specialist Project of the Year, McConnell Seamless Roofing won the Built-Up Roofing Project of the Year, and Malden Roofing won both awards for Applications Project of the Year and Applications Team of the Year.

“The quality of work produced by the Smith Brothers of Malden Roofing is second to none,” comments Sam Jones, Sika Liquid Plastics National Field Manager who judged the entries for the two Applications award categories; “And we felt they deserved to be recognised for their contribution to roofing excellence.”

Clarke Roofing (Southern) won for their project at Astral Towers – an office building located close to an airport runway, which presented many complications. Frank Clarke, Managing Director, commented; “The roof had more track than southern rail, 240 stanchions and plant all over. The surface was like a lunar landscape and it would have been impossible to lay Decothane straight onto. But we found a way by preparing the surface and laying a thin insulation recovery board and carrier.”

For a relative newcomer to the Quality Assured Contractor Programme, it was a fantastic achievement for BriggsAmasco to win their first award in the Specialist Project of the Year category for their exceptional multi-coloured roofing system at Kings and Tettenhall Schools.

Angus Tosh from McConnell Seamless Roofing was also there to collect his award for the built-up roofing projects completed on five schools for Renfrewshire Council. This project was completed to a tight timescale during adverse weather conditions and totalled over 11,000 sqm.
