Flat Roofing Solutions for Hospitals & Healthcare Buildings

Sika Liquid Plastics has over 50 years’ experience in liquid waterproofing, and have worked across an array of different markets, and healthcare is no exception.

Decothane, our flagship liquid waterproofing products, has been specified amongst some of the largest hospitals in the UK. This is primarily due to the benefits of our liquid waterproofing systems, which are cold applied meaning zero hot works will take place on the roof, as well as the fact that our systems also come with, applications and technical support, and a market leading guarantee.

In addition, we have recently launched Decothane Ultra, a low odour liquid roofing system which has been designed specifically for sensitive sites such as hospitals and healthcare facilities.

During the development of Decothane Ultra, the product itself was tested by Odournet, a team of independent consultants that develops, manages and delivers top level expertise on sensory analysis techniques and their application for product optimisation and material testing.

Deocthane Ultra uses a patented technology which is exclusive to Sika Liquid Plastics, and the system has already been used on extremely complex projects, where compromise wasn’t an option, such as the National Sperm Bank at Birmingham women’s hospital, Scarborough Hospital and the ear, nose and throat facility at Preston Royal Hospital.

The points on the map above highlight a few project case studies and are not indicative of all works in this sector.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Edgbaston

The dishwasher area of the hospital required a full refurbishment as the existing felt roof was causing problems through leaking in three separate areas. Consequently the client required a protective system for roofs and, following the successful application of a Sterisept hygienic system which had been used for internal application to the hospital, a Sika Liquid Plastics coating was specified.
