In addition the glazing bars and glass domed roof were allowing significant water ingress into the building. Liquid Plastics and Contractor Cemplas worked together to resolve these issues in an efficient and economical matter.
A Decothane Omega 15 system was specified for the Asphalt roofs. A cold, liquid applied system that cures to form a seamless waterproof membrane.
Decothane Clearglaze was specified for the glazing, with additional reinforcement added to the glazing bars.

The front part of the building has a classical portico and dome behind including a lead rotunda roof which had ripped and split over the years. The roof presented a very complex re-waterproofing challenge due to the different details over the existing lead rolls, and required the installation of a product that was heat tolerant and able to deal with high levels of movement whilst maintaining the waterproof integrity.
A Decothane Delta 25 system from Sika Liquid Plastics was specified for the project. This is a cold applied, liquid membrane that cures to provide guaranteed waterproof protection. It is a seamless membrane that can be quickly and easily installed even around the complex detail areas, making it ideal for use on complicated roofs. Once installed it meets the highest ratings available for a roof system. The colour used is also very similar to that of lead and because it was applied over the existing lead work the finished aesthetics are very similar to that of the original roof.
Decothane Delta 25
The building is over 22 years old and the roof is currently undergoing an extensive period of refurbishment expected to last for six years. The original felt waterproofing system had reached the end of its working life and a new system was required that would keep the building watertight.
A Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roofing System from Liquid Plastics was specified for the project. The full system consists of 40mm Decotherm insulation, a Carrier Membrane, and a seamless Decothane Gamma 20 waterproof 'cap sheet' in Slate Grey. The system is adhered using Liquid Plastics' revolutionary cold fusion adhesive - Decostik. All internal gutter were also fully waterproofed.
Liquid Plastics Technical Teams provided full support throughout the project to help ensure it was completed on time and to the high standard expected.
Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System
The March Stand, originally opened by the Queen in 1980, has a striking barrel shaped roof made from pre-cast concrete, which is supported by a reinforced concrete frame and stainless steel tensioning cables. It had however begun to suffer from water ingress and was in need of a solution that was durable, cost effective, quick to apply and, critically, flame-free.
Having discounted several options, including felt and other liquid roofing products, Decothane Delta 25 from Liquid Plastics was chosen. The roof was completed without disruption to the busy schedule of race meetings at Goodwood as the Decothane system was quickly and easily cold-applied directly over the existing roof, eliminating the need for potentially dangerous hot works.
Decothane Delta 25 is a highly elastomeric, which enables it to cope with thermal and substrate movement. Boasting a string track record, it is also guaranteed to last for at least 25 years before maintenance is required, even in the most challenging conditions.
The contractors completing the project commented, "Quite simply, this would have been an impossible job without Liquid Plastics. They provided superb technical expertise and a high performance product, which enabled us to work within the strict constraints of the project."

Liquid Plastics Decothane Omega 15 waterproof system was specified. This included a Carrier Membrane in some areas, a cold applied reinforced Decothane membrane, Liquid Plastics roof edge trims, and Flexistrip and Flexitape to provide additional reinforcement.
Decothane's liquid application meant that it could be easily and seamlessly applied into gutters, outlets, under flashings and into terminations details.

Decothane Omega 15 and Soladex
Future Systems wanted to create a monolithic, waterproof and insulating skin for the steel framed building.
A bespoke Liquid Plastics system was specially created to form the distinctive external facade of the new store. A 1mm coating of Decadex was applied over sprayed concrete. The Decadex coating was reinforced around the attachment points for the aluminum discs and insulation was adhered to the surface using Flexcrete PU Sealant. A 10mm thick coat of Wallfort Render and Scrim was applied before the finish was completed with a 1.5mm application of Monolastex Smooth coating in an electric blue colour specially matched to an Yves Klein painting. The shimmering silver discs were applied over Monolastex Smooth to give the impression that the discs are floating on the blue surface.

Finally the residential towers had a Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System with a tapered insulation scheme and a Decothane Delta 25 waterproofing membrane.
Decothane is a liquid applied membrane that cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection. It can easily accommodate any complex detail areas on the roof to provide total encapsulation and no risks of leaks. Because it is cold applied, the roofing contractors can work safely alongside other trades without causing any danger due to hot works.
Cold Fusion Bonded Built-UP Roof and Inverted Roof Systems
Contractor Holloway Cook Associates Ltd recommended that a thermo graphic survey be undertaken to locate the wet and defective areas of insulation prior to work beginning. Following repairs to replace the insulation, the roof then retrofitted with Decothane - Liquid Plastics' seamless waterproof membrane - with walkways receiving a skid-inhibiting grit and clearly marked out in red. This procedure meant that the entire roof area did not need to be stripped off, saving both time and money. In addition to the roof area being refurbished, the perimeter parapet walls and coping stones were also treated with Decothane to prevent any further water ingress into the property.

A Balcons Quartz Broadcast system from Liquid Plastics was specified for the project. This system consists of quartz mix fully broadcast into wet Decothane Blacons. The excess is removed after curing and the system is then sealed with a top coat of clear Balcony Sealer 60. The full system is completely cold applied and in addition to providing superior waterproofing, its high tensile strength also provides exceptional crack bridging capabilities.
The installation of the Balcons system offered minimal disruption to the occupants of the building and its zero flame, zero heat application also meant the works were completed safely and without any risk of fire. The system is completely seamless and provides skid inhibiting capabilities, thus providing a safe, trafficable area. Decothane Blacons is also UV resistant and guaranteed to last for at least 10 years.

Balcons Quartz Broadcast
An extensive Green Roof System was specified for the project and installed by one of Liquid Plastics Quality Assured Contractors. The waterproofing is provided by a root resistant version of Decothane, situated at the bottom of the build-up. A drainage layer is also included before the roof is completed with a layer of low maintenance sedum.
Liquid Plastics' Green Roof System was chosen for the project because it provides a completely seamless waterproof membrane that is proven to resist penetration by even the most aggressive roots. It is also completely cold applied and BBA approved. The completed system comes with a Single Point Guarantee for 25 years - the life of the building. Liquid Plastics was also able to tailor the green roof to meet the clients specific requirements in terms of sedum weight.

Extensive Green Roof System
A Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System from Sika Liquid Plastics was specified for the leisure centre's new build extension. This system includes Decotherm insulation and a Decothane Gamma 20 waterproof 'cap sheet'. The same system was also used to rewaterproof and insulate one of the centre's pitched roofs, with Decothane being applied to the roof's glazing to quickly and easily restore waterproof integrity where the glazing bars had failed and were leaking.
A Decothane Gamma 20 systems was used to waterproof the main felt flat roof, part of which was done in stages due to accessibility issues whilst other trades were onsite.
In addition there was an existing copper roof which needed waterproofing whilst meeting the client's demands of maintaining the appearance of the original copper system. Decothane was applied in Verdi Green, with a built-up roof system installed in the valley gutters.
The completed waterproofing installations are guaranteed for 20 years and allowed works to carry on safely in the building below.

Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof and Decothane Gamma 20
Sika Liquid Plastics' Balcons Quartz Broadcast System was specified for the project because of its cold application and ease of installation over the existing substrate. The seamless system consists of three coats of Decothane Balcons, with a quartz mix fully broadcast into the wet top coat. The excess quartz is then removed after curing and the system is sealed with a top coat of Balcony Sealer 30.
The completed system is highly decorative, fully watertight and has a skid inhibiting aggregate to provide a safe and trafficable surface for the residents. It has excellent crack bridging capabilities and is elastomeric, allowing for greater thermal movement. The system is cold applied and provides waterproof protection guaranteed for 10 years. The client, who has previously been accustomed to using asphalt, is now convinced that liquid systems are the way forward.

Balcons Quartz Broadcast
The building is an unconventional plan form and of such a scale that a 'flat roof' was the only viable and economic solution. A 'cut to falls' scheme was required, working on the principle of minimum, rather than average U value. This allowed the architect to use a symphonic drainage system, with a minimum number of roof outlets, and a singular, large diameter rainwater pipe to remove rainwater from the roof. As a result, underground drainage & associated costs are kept to a minimum.
A cold fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System from Liquid Plastics was specified for the project. The full system consists of a Vapour Control Layer, a full tapered insulation system, a Carrier Membrane, and a seamless Decothane Omega 15 waterproof 'cap sheet' in Slate Grey. The system is adhered using Liquid Plastics' revolutionary cold fusion adhesive - Decostik. As part of the service offered by Liquid Plastics the full roof specification and tapered insulation system was completed by the Technical Customer Services team.
The architect has previous experience of Decothane and understands the benefits that the product gives to intricate detailing around the upstands, pipe penetrations, internal gutters and outlets. The ability to create a completely seamless membrane across any roof shape allows freedom of design and detailing. The full system is completely cold applied, thus eliminating the need for any heat or naked flame on the roof, and once installed it is guaranteed to last for at last 15 years.

Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System
The design of the new school building provides a number of different roof areas, of which five had a Sika Liquid Plastics' Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof Installation and another had a Sika Liquid Plastics' Cold Applied and Seamless Inverted Roof installation. On the remaining roofs, two areas were covered with an Extensive Green Roof System and one - which would provide an educational, fully accessible area for children - had an Intensive Green Roof to allow the pupils to learn about the different plant and flower species. All of the green roof installation include Sika Liquid Plastics' Decothane root resistant grade membrane to ensure superior waterproof protection would be even with the presence of plants.
Sika Liquid Plastics' systems were deemed to be best suited for the project because of the seamless nature of the waterproof membrane, which enabled the deck in places to be cast flat.

It can easily accommodate detail areas and is highly elastomeric, allowing for thermal and structural movement without cracking or flaking. It presents good skid inhibiting properties and is also guaranteed for 10 years.
